DIVE TECH SAFARI – WRECKS ON JAVA SEA 10D/9N
Day 1 – Gili Trawangan, Gili Air, Gili Meno. Overnight transition (1 afternoon dive)
Day 2 – Madura, the wreck of a small landing boat.
Day 3 – Japanese cargo ship Meigen Maru.
Day 4 – Dutch flagship, cruiser De Ruyter.
Day 5 – The British destroyer HMS Exeter.
Day 6 – The British warship HMS Encounter / American submarine USS Perch.
Day 7 – Japanese cargo ship Kaisyo Maru.
Day 8 – Dutch cruiser HNLMS Java.
Day 9 – Shouten, a Dutch cargo ship, used by the Japanese under the name Suites Maru.
Day 10 – Comming back to Gili Islands
Day 1 – Gili Islands
• 14.00 – collecting guests from Gili Trawangan
• 14.30 – accommodation, orientation activities on the boat, lunch
• 16.00 – possible “warm-up” dive or the beginning of the cruise
• 18.00 – evening dinner, all-night transfer to the Madura
In the evening we suggest a leisure time with a drink, the cinema under the stars or just a relaxation in the comfortable cabins.
Gili Islands – the famous three islands located just off the northwestern coast of the Lombok island. They offer beautiful beaches, plenty of activities on land, but above all, dozens of diving sites. Blue water, lots of huge turtles, moray eels, sharks, lionfish, parrot fish etc. Easy diving – perfect for the dive check.
Day 2 – Madura, the wreck of a small landing boat.

Our adventure diving begins for real.
Before every dive we have a 3D briefing using the underwater seabed sonar. The wreck of the first boat is not big, but it is a great place to finish the configuration of the equipment, to practice procedures and have a serious warm-up before the following explorations. Let this day be the prelude and the real beginning for our technical safari. We can check how the electronic devices on the boat work and adapt the logistics of diving.
Day 3 – Japanese cargo ship Meigen Maru.

During the transfer – dinner, relaxation and watching a movie.
The boat is about 130 m long and is broken in two places. The top of the wreck is about 45 m under the sea level, and the seabed is at the depth of about 60 m. You can find the remains of transported porcelain around the wreck. The remains are mostly in tiny pieces but with a little luck, you can also find an undamaged items.
Day 4 – Dutch flagship, cruiser De Ruyter.

During the transfer – dinner, relaxation and training concerning the use of the decompression chamber.
The Dutch light cruiser was sunk on 28.01.1940. The length of the ship is 170 m. The top of the wreck is 48 meters under the sea level and the whole hull stands on the keel, inclined at the angle of 45 deg. It was a Dutch flagship, which had a catapult for airplanes and carried two planes on the deck. More information can be found here.
Day 5 – The British destroyer HMS Exeter.

During the transfer – dinner, relaxation and training concerning the use of the navigation systems.
The British heavy cruiser flagship is situated with its top 48 meters under the sea level. It has two catapults and two airplanes, heavy weapons, 18 cannons, six of which with the caliber of 533 mm. More information about the ship can be found here.
Day 6 – The British warship HMS Encounter, 60 m / American submarine USS Perch.

The British destroyer “HMS Encounter”. Length – 100 meters. She could reach speed of 38 knots. Armed with 8 cannons and 20 depth charges.

American submarine “USS Perch”. The ship had a length of 92 m and is 55 m under the sea level.

Day 7 – Japanese cargo ship Kaisyo Maru.

The wreck of the Japanese transport ship “Kaisyo Maru”..
She lies at the bottom at approx. 60 m below the sea level. The length of the ship is about 130 m. The ship was torpedoed in 1943 by an American submarine. She carried the full cargo, and you can find pieces of it around the wreck.
Day 8 – Dutch cruiser HNLMS Java.

The Dutch flagship HNLMS Java cruiser is 155 m long and lies about 67 m under the sea level. She was armed with 28 small cannons and equipped with two catapults for transported airplanes.
For finding this warship, captain Vidar was awarded a medal by the Dutch navy.
Day 9 – Shouten, the Dutch cargo ship, used by the Japanese under the name “Suites Maru”.

• 18:30 – transfer towards the Gili Islands
During the transfer – dinner, relaxation and a summary of the expedition.
The Dutch transport vessel “Shouten” was used by the Japanese under the name of “Suites Maru”. After she was sunk by an US submarine she has been lying at the depth of approx. 60 m. The ship is 85 meters long and was carrying the full cargo. You can easily find many pieces from this cargo, because this ship and the other ships you will meet during our trip, have not been visited by the recreational divers, and their positions are not known. This is the last ship explored during the expedition.
Day 10 – Welcome back to Gili Islands!
